Jitter Like A June Bug!

The Summer Solstice is upon us!

June is the month that gives us a high sun, thriving gardens, and long days filled with the first taste of Summer heat. How do you notice this transition into Summer affecting you? Do you feel energized and renewed by the generous sunshine? Does the heat make you restless? Or do you notice yourself feeling tired and sluggish?

Summer affects all of us differently, and it’s important to exercise acceptance and treat ourselves with whatever care we need to fully experience the joy of the season. Whether that’s staying hydrated and putting on extra sunscreen or being patient with ourselves and relaxing under a cool shower, self-care is the first step to opening ourselves up to creativity and play!

Play isn’t just for kids! Play is exploration. Play is experimentation. Play is taking whatever energy is within you, putting it out into the world, and seeing what comes back! Like crickets and cicadas chirp and sing out for a mate, we create to connect with those around us.

Take the opportunity this month to just do. Don’t second-guess or hold yourself back- Play! Explore your inner world, share your discoveries, and see what you’re rewarded with!

We’ve cultivated a Spotify playlist to help you apply this invitation to your dance & pole journeys. Listen to June Bug and see what the music inspires in you! Try a new style, dance in a new way, or put together different movements in a way you wouldn’t have thought to before. Don’t put any pressure on yourself to accomplish anything. Give yourself permission to experiment!

Our book of the month is Play by Stuart Brown.
